Dr. Ewa Łabno-Falęcka has been with Mercedes-Benz since 1999, first with Mercedes-Benz Polska and since 2022 with Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Poland. She has been coordinating Mercedes-Benz investments in Poland since 2015. Last year the company announced that it will build a new EUR 1.3 billion production plant to produce large vans (enclosed model – vans) based on the VAN.EA (Van Electric Architecture).The investment, which will be located alongside its existing engine factory in Jawor, west of Wrocław in the Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone, is expected to start in November 2023, and production in January 2026. The existing plant produces four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines and electric batteries for Mercedes-Benz passenger cars. The state-of-the-art factory combines the highest standards in the automotive industry with the idea of Industry 4.0, and its launch increases the company’s manufacturing capacity in Eastern Europe as well as flexibility and effectiveness of the global production network of Mercedes-Benz.
Prior to Mercedes-Benz, Ewa worked for the Polish diplomatic service, in the Embassy of The Republic of Poland in Bonn. She studied linguistics in Kraków, Berlin, and Freiburg im Breisgau (Germany), and has a PhD from Eberhard Charles University, Tübingen (Germany). She is a winner of many industry & branch awards, incl. Golden Arrow, PRotony, “Marketing Director of the Year” (twice), nominated for European Excellence Award (twice). Winner of the Grand Prix in the ranking “Businesswoman of the Year” in Poland (2017). She is co-founder and president of the Partnership for Road Safety Association (2006-2010) (in cooperation with the World Bank in Poland) and Society of Friends of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw (2008-2012).
