Yann joined Præmia REIM in 2014 as head of transaction and asset management dedicated to the healthcare and educational sector. He has since led the diversification of healthcare investments across Europe (Germany, Italy, Ireland, Spain). He was notably in charge of the acquisition of GECIMED (French 2nd largest healthcare portfolio at the time with 73 assets) and PANACEA (German healthcare portfolio of 68 assets). He also steered the development of the first French SCPI dedicated to healthcare and educational real estate (SCPI PRIMOVIE) with a capitalisation, 10 years after the fund’s creation of more than € 4.6 billion.
Since the merger in July 2023 with the team of Praemia Healthcare (former Icade Santé), as Head of Investment Healthcare & Education, he conducts the investment strategy for the Præmia REIM’s funds dedicated to healthcare, which represent as of end-2025 more than € 17.0 billion AuM.
Before joining Praemia REIM, Yann worked for the STEVA Group, a French nursing homes and assisted living operator, where he was in charge of business development for eight years. He contributed to the realisation of several projects representing more than 400 care beds/places and 220 assisted living units. Yann Balaÿ is a qualified lawyer.
